Time to create your new website design
As of now you have gone to Bluehost and created a domain name and installed your new Word press site on your computer and because you are really wanting to get started you have probably already posted your first post about yourself talking about your past and now you are on your journey to start your new adventure. Now it’s time to set yourself apart from others and it is time to….
Choose A Word press Design And Theme
By default there are several themes included within the Word press platform. These are free themes and of course you are welcome to use any of these that you think will work for you.
However, because the search engines do not rank these themes on any type of high priority because they simply “look like” many of the other web sites out there in the wild electronic abyss.
I have a recommendation of a paid theme (that I use) that will solve many issues for you and cause you no headaches in the future. This theme will help you when it comes to site monetization by having a structure and features that will be in place to help you with your goals of generating income from your site.
It is called Genesis Framework
Genesis Framework is a theme that will work on your web site and is used by beginners as well as professionals.
Let me try to explain what it is: Let’s say that you have just built this awesome model airplane, the structure is sound and has a strong foundation to it, now you need to make it look awesome by painting it and applying the proper decals so that it looks and feels professional, these are known as child themes that are needed to be added to the main Genesis Framework for it to be complete. You are on your way.
Then next comes the
Plug-ins
What are plug-ins you may ask? Well these are additional tools that you install to help you with tasks you will need to take the place of any coding, ( I am not a coder ) that you may need to write for your site to work correctly.
There are 3 plug-ins that are recommended that you need to keep your site safe from hackers, SEO optimization, and a back up system. they are:
The first one is Yoast SEO, this plug-in is very important to your site because helps the users that are searching for you on the Google platform to find your posts using the key keywords (also called tags) that you have placed on your page when you are writing your posts. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. This is how your customers find you.
The second one is: Akismet anti_spam This will help keep your site safe from spam and spam comments (and people that want to steal your content) it should already be installed in your Word press with instruction on how to activate with the API key. Very important.
The third is: UpdraftPlus: This is a backup system that can be backed up onto several files like dropbox, Google Drive or a couple of other areas, with a single click restore. You may need to do a search inside the Word press plugin area to find one or more of these plugins. Note: these are free however, some may have a “Pro” version upgrade if you would be interested in exploring them. You are on your way….
